THE COST
A flat per-project rate is charged based on the complexity of the illustration(s), usage (how and where), circulation (number of times used) and turnaround time. Complex illustrations with higher reproduction rights transfers and shorter lead times will be more expensive. Simpler illustrations with fewer rights transfers and longer lead times will cost less.

THE TIMING
The production time of a commissioned illustration depends on the complexity of the work, the media used, the number of illustrations requested and the timeliness of client approval. Project status updates are regularly communicated to accommodate client timelines.

THE PROCEDURE
After initial contact, an estimate of cost and timeline and terms of payment are provided. A retainer is required to begin the project. Once the estimate is approved, signed and returned with retainer, initial concepts (thumbnail sketches) are developed. When a concept is decided upon, the next phase is a tight pencil drawing. Upon client approval, the finished art is produced, incorporating any client changes. When completed, the art is scanned and a low resolution file is emailed for approval. Once final art is approved,
a high-res file is sent according to client file requirements.
